Bellevue Fiber Festival

1st Annual Bellevue Fiber Festival,
Bellevue Nebraska

Join us as Nebraska celebrates the Joys of Fiber. We will be featuring wool, llama, alpaca, silk, and angora. There will be classes on knitting spinning crocheting and felting, picking a fleece. Whether you are just getting started or have been doing it for years, come celebrate with us!

Classes

Beginning Wheel Spinning 35.00
A class for those who don’t know how, but want to learn how to spin their own yarns on a wheel or drop spindle. Students can bring their own wheel/drop spindle, or purchase one at the fair to learn on. Also a great refresher class. Class is 2 hours long.


Beginning Knitting 20.00
A great class to get started knitting. A fabulous use for the yarns you spin, or a way to express your love of fiber. Class is 2 hours long. Materials can be brought to the class or purchased at the fair. You will need size 13 needles and 1 skein of worsted yarn.

Beginning Crochet 20.00
Learn to crochet, as an aid to your knitting skills, a way to use your handspun or Just a handy skill all by itself. Class is 2 hours long, and materials can either be brought to class or purchased at the fair. Participants will need a size N crochet hook and a skein of heavy worsted weight yarn.


Felted Soy silk 15.00
A two hour class on felting soy silk, this method is also called silk fusion,
Materials are provided.


Beaded Crochet 20.00
Crochet a bracelet with wire, yarn, and beads, with a magnetic clasp to close. Students will need 20 or 30 gauge wire, fancy yarn of your choice, Magnetic clasps, size 4 and H crochet hooks and E sized Beads! Materials need to be brought. Class is 2 hours.

Triangle Weaving 50.00
We will be making a triangle scarf on a small loom. All materials will be provided along with written instructions. The instructions are the same for either a small loom or a seven foot one. Each class participant will receive a wooden loom and yarn to complete the project as part of the class fee.
Class is 4 hours.


Picking a fleece for spinning 20.00
Learn how to pick a fleece for hand spinning, matching the fleece to the project that you want to do, or just knowing what to look for in choosing a great fleece.
We will talk about the breeds of sheep, which wool is best suited for a project, and what to look for in picking a hand spinning fleece. Washing a fleece, and preparing it for spinning will also be covered. Fleece will be available and samples will be provided for each student to take home and spin. Class is 2 hours.


Knitting with Fabric 20.00
Knit a high style dressy Jabot combining Yarn and lightweight fabric
Materials: Size 8 double pointed needles, 18, 2.5X10 inch strips of fabric, and a sport weight yarn of your choice. Materials will need to be brought to class.

Spinning Beyond Wool 20.00
Wheel or drop spindle class on spinning cotton and silk.
Class is 2 hours long and materials are provided.
Student can bring their drop spindles or wheel, or purchase one at the fair.

LaceKnitting-50.00
Reading, writing and knitting lace patterns.
All materials provided, class is 2 hours long.

Kids classes 5.00
Bracelets, felt wool bags and wool angels
